Melodie Ureten

Articled Student

Melodie obtained her Juris Doctor from the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia.

Prior to law school, Melodie completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree which grounded her knowledge in corporate and commercial affairs. Before her business degree, she studied film at the Vancouver Film School which fostered her creative thinking and education in entertainment.

During her time at law school, she received the Oyen Wiggs Green & Mutala LLP Prize for her academic excellence in Intellectual Property. Prior to joining Smeets, Melodie worked as a temporary articled student at Rise Women’s Legal Centre where she represented and advised clients in family law issues.

Melodie has wide-ranging legal interests, including in the areas of insurance, administrative law, union and labour, construction, family, immigration, corporate, and entertainment.

In her spare time, Melodie enjoys reading, playing piano, going to the movies, and spending time with her dog, Dogtor.
